3 Days Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

Mountain Gorilla in PNV, Rwanda

This is one of the shortest Rwanda safari that captures the essence of Rwanda " a visit to the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. Meeting these gentle giants in their natural habitat is a world unique experience everyone should have the privilege to experience. Participants on this trip will, as extra options, also have the opportunity to visit the recently habituated Golden Monkeys or trek up to the grave of Dian Fossey.

Day 1: Kigali - Volcanoes National Park
Our guide will pick you from Kigali International Airport for a transfer to Volcanoes National park (PNV). Have lunch either in Kigali or Ruhengeri depending on arrival time. Proceed north to the foothills of the volcanoes that make up Volcanoes National Park. You have the choice of staying at the moderately priced Gorillas nest or the Virunga Lodge which is a high quality eco lodge with magnificent views over both the volcanoes and Lake Burera and Ruhondo. There is also the option of staying at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)

Traveling time from Kigali to Volcanoes area; 3-4 hours.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in PNV
Early breakfast before proceeding to the park head quarters where visitors assemble at 07.00 for a briefing on how to” behave” while in the company of a gorilla group. You will meet your guide here and proceed to the starting point of the trek to our allocated group of gorillas. The length of the trek varies depending on where the gorillas are as well as what the weather conditions are.

It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers and gloves for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks & sweets as well as sufficient amount of water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during the day. You spend one hour with the gorillas which is a truly amazing experience " before trekking back to the base and return to your lodge / hotel.

Day 3: Genocide Memorial Sites / Airport Transfer
Time permitting visit to the genocide memorial before transfering to Kigali airport for your return flight.
