3 days Burun­di tour is a spe­cial short trip craft­ed to let you explore and expe­ri­ence Burun­di regard­less of tight sched­ule. This tour includes vis­it to Kar­era falls, Gite­ga Nation­al Muse­um and the Source of the Nile. Kar­era falls/The Chutes de la Kar­era has a com­po­si­tion of 4 water­falls with the most scenic one being Nyakai 1, then the small­est is Nyakai 11. From Gite­ga, Kar­era falls is 64kms away. Gite­ga muse­um is Burundi’s nation­al muse­um, and it is found right in Gite­ga and dates back to 1955 when it was found­ed when Burun­di was still under the Bel­gian colo­nial rule.

Detailed itin­er­ary

Day 1: Arrival, trans­fer to a hotel

Upon ear­ly arrival at Bujum­bu­ra air­port, meet your dri­ver guide for a warm wel­come and brief­ing on your 3 days Burun­di tour. Begin your day in Burun­di with a short city tour which allows you vis­it the explor­ers mon­u­men­t/Liv­ing­stone-Stan­ley mon­u­ment in Mugere 12kms from Bujum­bu­ra. This overviews the beau­ti­ful Lake Tan­ganyi­ka, and it is where Dr. David Liv­ing­stone plus jour­nal­ists and Hen­ry Mor­ton Stan­ley vis­it­ed and had 2 nights in 1871.

Day 2: Explore Kar­era falls, Source of the Nile & Gitega

Enjoy a deli­cious break­fast, after, set off for Rutana where Kar­era falls is locat­ed. You will explore a col­lec­tion of 4 water­falls that make up the Kar­era water­falls, then pro­ceed to the Source of the Nile and last­ly, explore Gite­ga muse­um. At Gite­ga muse­um, you will come across dif­fer­ent arti­facts from Burun­di, etc. If time allows, con­tin­ue to Gisho­ra Drum Sanc­tu­ary 7km from Gite­ga town. After your excur­sion, return to a hotel in Bujum­bu­ra for overnight stay.

Day 3: Departure

After a hefty break­fast, you will check out of the hotel and dri­ve to Rusizi Nation­al Park, about 15kms from Bujum­bu­ra city. Enjoy a short boat excur­sion, see hip­pos, and return to take a flight or relax at your hotel.
