This safari will take you to the virgin lands of the Democratic Republic of Congo and it will start from Kigali and end from Kigali. You will trek the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega national park in Congo. Lowland gorillas are larger than mountain gorillas in appearance and they are only 4 habituated gorilla families in Kahuzi-Biega National Park open for tourists to trek.
Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali and head to Bukavu in Congo.
Upon landing at Kigali International airport in Rwanda, your assigned company driver guide will pick you up and take you through a short briefing about how you are going to spend your 3 days in Kahuzi-Biega lowland gorillas in Congo.
Start your drive to Congo southwards to Kamembe city and cross the border of Cyangugu. On your drive, you will be passing through the Nyungwe forest enjoying watching the primates and the rolling hills of Rwanda. Arrive in Congo check in at the hotel and don’t mind about the security because it is now very good.
Day 2: Lowland gorilla trekking.
Lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park starts with breakfast in the morning then transfer to the park offices for clearance and then after you will be briefed then head to the forest to look for these endangered lowland gorillas. The search for these lowland gorillas doesn’t take long hours like that of mountain gorilla trekking because they don’t move so high in the mountain.
Once you find the lowland gorillas, you will not be allowed to spend more than one hour in their presence because they are endangered and can easily be infected with infectious diseases. After your one-hour experience moves back to the lodge.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali and fly back.
Wake up in the morning for breakfast then check out from the hotel and drive back to Kigali International airport enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Optional city tour around Kigali then fly back to your home country.
